Ancient Spice Cacao

Ingredients

20g cacao

200-250ml no sugar oat milk (or another alternative or water)

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cayenne

1/2 tsp maca powder

1 tsp maple syrup (add more as needed)

1/2 tsp vanilla (more if needed)

1/2 tsp tumeric

Method

  1. Chop your cacao using a knife.

  2. Add the milk/water to the pan and warm gently. Do not boil.

  3. Add the chopped cacao and other ingredients.

  4. Whisk until combined and smooth.

Intention

Cacao is a heart-opening medicine. On a biological level, that means the blood vessels are opened by the cacao. It allows an easier flow of blood around your body. It can lower blood pressure (a reason to be cautious if you are on heart medication). When we pair it with spices like Cayenne, we are also stimulating blood flow. So a wider blood vessel and a faster flow will heighten your experience.

Mother Earth has an abundance of herbs and spices that come with different properties. To me, all these ingredients are plant medicine. Each with its own way to support you.

As you sip your cacao, cast your mind back to a time before pharmaceutical companies. A time before synthesised medicines. This cup you hold in your hand will work energetically with your body to nourish it and mend what needs mending. Really let that concept sink in.
